Rice is not fattening if you eat it in small portions. In fact, it is a good source of vitamins and minerals. These days brown rice is getting popular as a healthier substitute for white rice, as promoted by a few studies around the world. The studies confirm the fact that people who consume brown rice weighed less compared to people who consumed refined grains.

The not so healthy side of rice is that it is high in glycemic index that increases the blood sugar level in the body. Therefore it is not recommended for people with sugar problems. In the Far East Asian countries people have traditionally eaten rice for generations and remained healthy and slim (though that’s changing nowadays with the influx of the Western diet).

It just suggests that carbs, in and of themselves, are benign in a metabolic vacuum. If you have everything else going right – insulin sensitivity, regular activity, absence of metabolic deranging foods like fructose, lectins, and excessive linoleic acid – pure starchy carbs aren’t going to be a big problem. But, we aren’t starting from ground zero. The overweight middle-aged man with 2 kids and a 10 hour a day job is not starting from square one.  He has an issue with glucose, one that might not be cured in a lifetime. For a person like that, avoidance of rice is recommended and probably necessary.

Causes of Depression:

• Suppressed anger: Depressed persons feel let down by important others in their life and this makes them enraged. However, they feel uncomfortable in expressing their anger and rage out of fear of hurting the person or spoiling the little hope that is left. Often, these people turn the rage at their own selves which leads to self-hatred and depression. 
• Negative thinking patterns: Depressed people think negatively about themselves ("I’m useless"), the surrounding world ('no one cares for me") and the future ("life is no good because these things will never change"). A depressed person tends to focus exclusively on negative experiences and totally ignores the positive ones. This excessive focus on the negative leads to hopelessness. 
• Medical causes: At times, depression is secondary to an ongoing medical illness. Abnormalities in monoamine neurotransmitter system especially serotonin, noradrenaline and dopamine seem to contribute to depression.

Ways to prevent depression: 
The key to prevent depression is to develop a realistic, intrinsic and strong sense of personal worth. If you feel valued and adequate within yourself as a person you would have a robust self to fight adverse experiences. Developing one close relationship where you can share everything and feel understood and loved for who you are adds to psychological strength. How to get sexy shoulders

Whether you are a guy or a girl, perfect shoulders are a must in your endeavour to look your best. Perfect square shoulders that give way to toned arms are important in your overall sex appeal. Shoulders can be disproportionally big for men who do too much of isolation exercises for their upper body and can be disproportionally small for women who spend too much time doing cardio. But shoulders, unlike many other body parts, are not that hard to get right if you do the right workouts.

So what can you do for the perfect shoulders?

In order for anything to do with our physical form to take its perfect shape, the main things we need to do is build strength and feed the muscles as well as add flexibility and suppleness to muscles so that they take the shape that they were intended to have.

So whether your shoulders are too small, or too big, or generally just too droopy and round, do these exercises for good shoulders.

1) Overhead press
: Take dumbbells in both hands and stand with your feet at shoulder width. Now push up your hands over your head and bring them down again to shoulder level.  Repeat till failure. This is a great workout for your shoulders and upper arms.

2) Bent over rows
: Stand with your legs at shoulder width and knees slightly bent. Hold dumbbells with arms straight at knee level. Now pull your arms back, bending at the elbows and then extend them. Repeat till failure.

3) Pull ups or lateral pull downs
: For pull ups all you need is a bar and you need to heave your self up and down which is a good workout for the full body and this really rips the arms and shoulders into shape. Lateral pull downs involve gym equipment. The machine provides a bar with weights that you can take up and down as per your requirement. While sitting, hold the bar overhead with your hands a little more than shoulder distance and pull it down to your chest. Once again, extend your arms and repeat till failure. Both these exercises work the entire chest, shoulder and upper arms area.

4) Headstands, handstands, elbow stands, shoulder stands
:  These are all yoga poses that can be implemented with a fair bit of practice. The aim is to hold yourself up in these postures for as long as you can stay. These postures build tremendous strength in your shoulders as in all the four postures above your shoulders are carrying the weight of your entire body! Start by doing them up against a wall (supervised of course) and once the balance comes, it's easy to stay in these postures for as long as you want.

A word of warning: You may want to get down when you feel the need to admire your perfect shoulders.
